Back in June I saw this…..
The most beautiful lace trenchcoat and I bought everything I needed to sew it within a week!
The lining.
I knew I wanted to make a really good job of it and so kept putting it off! I think I was hoping my skills would improve so that it would be a truly professional job.
Except …..I kept putting it off! UNTIL the wonderful Rach started blogging about making her gorgeous trenchcoat…The Robson last week:
Here was a Trench to aspire to…… so thanks Rach I am hoping mine will be soon looking as fantastic as yours!
Love the lace. I used the same Burda trench coat pattern to make my raincoat last year (and a wearable test garment, too). I found the directions for the vent a bit confusing but if you take it slow and easy it’s ok. Happy sewing!

Oh that’s good to hear! Is it on your blog? It all seems quite confusing!!! But, yes I am just going slowly and steadily. Last night I added the interfacing and this weekend I am going to do the lining. Then I should be good to go! May be in touch! 😃

I am so nervous, haha. I have cut it out and am now basting the lace onto the cotton to stop it moving! It is going to be slow and boring. But I am going to make myself do it properly!

I’ve done the same thing before and it IS boring, but you’ll be glad you did it. It ensures that the two layers will adhere and look like you want them.

To be honest, I’ve not really put much effort into setting up my sewing studio yet. I’ve been busy selling pattern and am happy to say I’ve made 5 sales already. That makes me happy…. only 50 gazillion to go. 🙂
Actually, reading you post on your lace trench made me feel like I need to get into gear and organize myself so I can start projects again.
You’re an inspiration!

Exciting times!
Can’t wait to see yours, I’m following Rach’s Robson trench too, and am planning a short jacket Vogue 1036, but I’m very tempted to make a trench after seeing Rach’s progress.
