The Lace Trench has to have a worthy head piece and I could not resist this pattern.. Simplicity 2494.
I really enjoyed sewing it. I took a tip from my daughter’s Textiles teacher who said to buy a fleece blanket as they are cheaper than buying by the metre. It was true! I am fancying the cream scalloped hat next…….mmmm does that mean ANOTHER new coat?? 😃

Great hat pattern Amanda. Maybe we add a hat to the coat off in 2014. 🙂

This is a great hat! And, the one with the scalloped edge is going to be just as fetching! Can’t wait to see it too!

Thank you! I have to say I really love it! Yes, scalloped one is lovely too. Not sure about the colour for that one! I think it would look good stitched with a different coloured thread too!

Funny you should mention that. Yesterday I loaded several “vintage” patterns up on my Etsy shop and I was thinking, gosh, if these don’t sell… maybe I should make one of them up. The only constraint on the number of coats one owns is closet space. 🙂
Actually, I made two coats last year… or was it three?
I should probably wear them before making any more. Hmm…

so cute! I have this patterm, but find the cover illustrations quite unattractive, so have never tried it. Yours looks lovely, though. I look forward to seeing you model it with the new coat. (How is it going? I am still stalled, with a broken machine 😦 )

Hello! I am gutted! You are my inspiration! Well, remember how I was going to take such care……. Ermm, lasted about 15 mins! I had a Downton Basting ( ie watching Downton Abbey and sewing the lace onto the cotton) . But it still moved … Obviously basting not my strong point……so have now got a new improved plan! I pinned lace onto fabric and then have zigzagged the edge of both! Double bonus- lace fastened on and edges should not fray!! Have got quite a few parts finished….. But there are so many!
