I thought the children would love me to wear an alphabet skirt to celebrate making it to Episode 3 of the #GBSB! They are so excited about me being on the television…..there is such a great buzz around school from everyone.
I used Simple Sew Lottie Blouse and skirt.
I love the Lottie Blouse and have made it quite a few times now…
The Paisley Bow Blouse
I knew the skirt pattern would make a great skirt and managed to find this upholstery fabric from a local curtaining store! It was the most school inspired I could find! It was a nice, easy sew with an invisible zip. I decided not to worry too much about the pattern matching on the waistband and then was cross because I could easily have matched it! It was all sewn on before I even noticed…..maybe if I had put my glasses on!!??
I had got a beautiful trim from Fabric Trims and decided to buy myself a black tee shirt style top and embellish it.
I can’t tell you how badly it fits me! All this fitting is obviously paying off! I think it could be the only ready to wear I buy this year!
Of course, you may want to check I am remembering to wear my glasses…
Pattern: Simple Sew Lottie Blouse and Skirt
Fabric: Upholstery Fabric
Notions: 7inch invisible zip, thread and interfacing
Wonky Factor: 7/10 ….the fabric creases easily and the waistband could have been perfect!

The skirt, is fantastic! I love using upholstery fabrics for skirts and bags – there’s always such a great range of prints available! And congrats on GBSB!

Thank you! I went looking for Charlie and the Chocolate factory really as knew there was an upholstery in it….for World Book day. I like the weight of it for a straight skirt but it creases a lot!! 😁

Another lovely outfit. Wish I could find a way to watch the show in the US without giving my computer a bug. Do you know if they plan to put the video out for sale?

The Alphabet skirt is genius! An inspired make – I love it.
See what making made to measure clothes has done though? You’ve ruined yourself for store bought clothing, ha ha! Still, the customisation makes the top a keeper 😉 Love the photos xxxxx

Lovely skirt! It’s fun to play around with unusual fabric patterns. Your ABC skirt is so cute! Your students will love it! I bet they really love watching you on TV. I can really relate to the glasses dilemma. Have you tried a reading contact just for one eye? I did that for years when I taught school. That way I could see the kids in the back, and read what was right in front of me (no hunting for glasses). ;0

The alphabet fabric is great. I just cannot understand where you find the time and energy to sew…I simply don’t. (Yes very jealous). At least half term means that I should get some done….please?

Well done on the GBSB! I’m really enjoying watching it and adored the fancy dress outfit you made. I have just cut the pattern out for the Lottie blouse and I just hope it turns out as lovely as yours! Loving the ‘school’ themed fabric too! 🙂
