For my Mum’s birthday this year I bought her (and me!!) a ticket to the Knitting and Stitching Show in Harrogate.
The morning starts early so we can arrive for breakfast in Bettys. This is a beautiful cafe, which is so elegant!
As you can see my Dad (who loves cameras ….can you tell?) and Annice came along too!
We arrive early so we can get into the Show as soon as it opens. It is sooooo busy!
After wearing The Poppy this week I had so many comments on it, that I am planning to make some plain coloured dresses and use beautiful trimmings. I straight away thought of the shop I had seen last year and not bought anything So I made up for it today!
I was really pleased to find out from the lovely assistant it now has an online site too Aargi J
Here is a close up of the 3 I bought . I also bought some wool for a baby blanket for my nephew on the way and a bag clasp -so I can have a try at making a bag to match my Christmas party dress!
We had a lovely visit, but left just as it was starting to get very busy! A wise move!!
This year my favourite stall had lots of beautiful French fabric and buttons.
We called in for a lovely homemade lemonade and chocolate muffin to admire my purchases!

os, I so wanted to go to the show but was working 2pm to 2am each day so couldn’t make it! That’s 2 years in a row now I’ve missed it, I think i’ll have to book leave for next year well in advance.
Please, please, please can I come to Betty’s with you and Navybluethreads! x

I love the french stall. Gorgeous fabrics. Just the place where I would hang out. You were quite restrained in your purchases. I always spend too much money at these sort of shows Glad you had a lovely time with your parents. They look sweet.

They are very sweet! My dad is painting my kitchen cupboards for me….we are hoping for a French shabby-chic style kitchen! He did the undercoating last night and next weekend will get onto the real paint! I am very lucky they belong to me! ❤️

Looks like you had a great time. I took my mum to the London show – a great mums & daughters’ day out. There was almost too much stuff to choose from. As a Yorkshire girl I’d have much rather gone to Harrogate!

I know! I quite liked my strategy though! So next year I will be aiming for the French fabric and buttons stall! I spent all year thinking about the trims! Haha!

Agreed about that chockie delight from Betty’s. Ah! Don’t suppose she’s contemplating a shop across the pond. Sigh! Agree that your purchases are mah-velous, and singularly minimal. 😉 Love that trim with the turquoise and will look forward to seeing how you use them. (Tell your dad my first camera, from my da, was an old-even-then Super Ricohflex, quite similar to the one in your photo. Wish I still had it.) Wonderful day out – thanks for taking us along! del xx

Wishing I’d gone now 😦 Life’s so busy though that I feel guilty doing things on my own and not with the children at the weekend… Maybe as they get older… Looks like a great day out, that French fabric looks beautiful, I think you were very tame in your purchases. I love the sitting down and admiring what you’ve bought bit too, especially with coffee and cake 🙂 Will look forward to seeing how you use it all…

Thanks. I use the excuse of it being my mums birthday pressie! It’s the Bettys treat that attracts the tagger alongers! Dad went off wondering while we were in there. Annie came just because she wanted some lace for the Christmas stockings she is making! And she couldn’t get near any stalls! She was not too impressed!

I understand the lire of Betty’s 🙂 only ever been to the Ilkley one though, but that’s pretty nice too. Kept meaning to have a day out to Harrogate over the Summer, but never got round to it, maybe in the Spring…

I love Harrogate. I would like a flat on the Stray, so on Sunday afternoons I can walk to Bettys for Hot Chocolate! #wheniwinthelottery!
