On the same day and at the same as Tom’s graduation, when I wore The Northumbria , this time at Hull University my sister was receiving her FIRST CLASS HONOURS degree in Archeology!!! I am so proud of her! Her gift had to be a dress to wear at her graduation! Introducing The Graduate……
Clare really loved The York which I made to go to her house on Boxing Day ,and so that was her chosen style for her dress. I bought the trim from AartiJ when I was at The Sewing Bee meet up at Olympia and used this gorgeous gaberchino from Calico Laine. I really love sewing this fabric as it has a beautiful drape and weight. I think I need some more colours!
So after being in Newcastle we drove straight down to see my sister and celebrate her graduation at a beautiful hotel close to her house…..remember The Cuba photo shoot!!??
My sister really just wanted an opportunity to twirl on my blog….so here goes…..
We had a great day celebrating with everyone, and the wonders of modern technology meant we could share in two graduations at once!
Here are are celebrating and of course Mam had to have the Mortar Board on…..think she fancies doing a degree now!!
Pattern: The Skater dress Simple Sew
Fabric: 3 metres of navy gaberchino from Calico Laine
Wonky Factor: 10/10. She is soooooo happy with it!!
Oh and she also got an award for best dissertation!!! How fab is my little sis!!??!! Well done Clare! 🎓⭐️🎓

What a big day for your family! Congratulations all round. I love The Graduate, and the “gaberchino” is new to me, but looks fantastic in those twirling shots!

Wahay! She’s obviously inherited the family twirl gene and that’s the ideal dress to perform it in! Great family photos – congrats to your clever sister:)

Lovely dress. The braid at the waist really makes it look smashing. What a clever family you have. Laughed when I saw the photos of your sister twirling. Have a lovely weekend Amanda. Cheers Linny

Hope you are both behaving yourselves. Only kidding. Love getting together with friends from my younger years pre husbands and babies. Hard to believe we ever grew up.

What a beautiful dress! I wouldn’t have imagined this pattern could look so smart but it’s absolutely perfect for such an important and formal event. The trim is beautiful too – how did you attach it?
