My fifth nephew finally arrived in the world two weeks ago- Max James.
He lives in Richmond, Surrey so we had a weekend visit to meet him. We stayed in The Rose of York and I had a new blouse to wear. I was also born in Yorkshire, so am a true Yorkshire lass!
It is one of the Lottie blouses I cut out on the night the Blog Manager was travelling to Rome!
This is my blouse of the moment as I love how they can be smart or casual. This was the third and then I saw the Wildflower Liberty fabric and had to make another!
Here are close ups of the bow detail. I have this down to a fine art now! I use bias binding on the keyhole gap under the tie part of the bow, I also make the hole smaller than on the pattern to save my modesty!!
I added sleeves in this version, however, I prefer the sleeveless version for wearing with a cardigan. The sleeves take some arranging under the cardigan sleeves!
The Rose of York has views over the Thames . Richmond is a beautiful place to live. We love to walk by the river and we had some lovely sunny weather. Here is our room, just so you can share our experience! ( I called my blouse a slightly different name as it seemed wrong to call myself The Rose of York, when I am more of a thorn!!!)
Pattern: The Lottie, Simple Sew ( should this be renamed The Amanda!?!)
Fabric: 1920s style cotton- 1.5 metres from the Market Man.
Notions: thread
Wonky Factor: 8/10 -it didn’t need sleeves when I have a nice cardigan!
Amanda 💝
Me too… I’m Yorkshire born and bred!
Loving all the blues in the fabric and of course I’m a sucker for pussy how blouses too!

Oh good! This pattern is so simple and looks fab in the quilting cotton -which is the only fabric I can buy in my town, so I just have to keep sewing them! That’s my excuse anyway!

You’re not a thorn! Your blouse looks really great and it seems like it was meant to be worn with that blue cardigan they go so well 🙂

Hi Amanda, All is well… too busy, but with good things. I can’t wait to see your dress, the fabric was so charming. Perfect for spring and summer wear.
I took my sewing machine for a tune-up and may actually have to start using it when I get it back. It’s been a very long dry spell and you are an inspiration!
Looking forward to your next creation. 🙂

All around lovely. Lovely fabric, lovely blouse, lovely room, lovely scenery and you look lovely in the format your blog manager arranges. How smart to frame each collage with a close up of the fabric. Very appropriate you wore blue for the new little boy. Hope you had a lovely visit too.

Thanks Denise! My blog manager is top notch isn’t she!?! She can be a little temperamental at times, but then I remind her of comments like these! Haha
Have a lovely week ! X

I think we should definitely rename it the Amanda now 😉 Great fabric, but I do know what you mean about arranging sleeves under cardigans. Hopefully we’ll carry on having the nice weather, so you won’t have to cover it up…

You do such beautiful work with your graphic arrangements here. And the blouse is a win! May I ask what program(s) you use to arrange you work for posting?

Haha! I do!
Hairs good, it made its debut at the golf club last night and i wore my orange vogue dress from last year. Felt strange wearing a frock tho without wearing my hair down. ✂️✂️✂️

Hi, pleased you had a good time in, well, I was about to say South London but technically I think it is Surrey! Anyway, love your blouse and also your what I am sewing next feature – does that answer the question I had when I looked at Instagram this morning?! Finally, what a coincidence Hila also has the same pattern – or is it a magazine freebie? Oh, and one other thing, I am super jealous of you having a blog manager! X

Ha, I just finished The Louvre in time to go to Leeds Art Gallery cafe as it was the perfect Blog posing location! The Blog Manager got some great photos in a beautiful building! Everyone is very jealous of my Blog Manager! Haha, she is not always keen!!
I also bought new fabric in Leeds Market, very similar to some Hobbs and Ted Baker dresses I have seen! So can’t wait to sew them for Summer!
