Being a teacher means we spend a few days during the year dressed up! But, if you can sew……you can make yourself an outfit!
I used Simplicity 1692 to make a red top to go with my red trousers.
So I could look like this……
Yes, I was Thing 1 from The Cat in the Hat… Because I am one of two Deputy Heads at our schooL.
The children kept asking me who was Thing 2, and when I suggested they guess they knew straight away who it would be!
We had an amazing day as Willy Wonka came to visit!
I ❤️️Willy Wonka!
We had quite a few Oompa Loompas around the place! Some seemed to get more orange as the day went on!
We had a great day and if there are any teachers reading this and need a fantastic treat for your school…Histrionics is fantastic! The best assemblies I have ever seen!
Anyway, back to the blouse. I used a red linen and some chunky buttons. More details here and close ups!
Also a tutorial type post about making the button loops here.
Pattern: Simplicity 1692
Fabric: 1.5 m of red linen.
Wonka Factor: 1010 . It is perfect for the Thing 1 look! I quite like the idea of another for the Summer! Perhaps in a Tilda available here

Looks like great fun! Not so much fun involved as a secondary school teacher, although the idea was mooted… Maybe next year!

Well done! I love that you all get involved.
Sewing Book Fair costumes was how I really started sewing, and in daughter’s final year we convinced the librarian to join in along with 7 other girls to represent a book written about their actual school. I am still not sure who enjoyed it more, myself, the librarian or the girls….and 6 years later, people still comment on it!

That’s sounds like a good idea! I know a Headteacher who gave all her staff a black sheet each to create their own cloak to wear for Harry Potter half term! Some were aghast but actually, they all got stuck in and didn’t think it as bad as they thought! #sewingrevolution!

I’ve just got in from my night shift and having a quick read before I go to sleep. Then you jumped out at me with strange coloured hair!
Brilliant! Love it!! Made me smile at the end of a tough night xx

Oh the things we do! We had a war themed day and went as land girls. I have made a cat in the hat hat in the past for one of my children. The mind boggles as to what to you will make to wear on Red Nose Day for a funny face day!
