Boxing Day 2014
My lovely sister has a family gathering on Boxing Day (26th December) and because she lives in historic York, it seemed the perfect name for a beautiful dress. York is a beautiful city in the North of England with a Minster, city wall, Roman remains and also a history of Vikings! My sister works here……Clifford’s Tower .
Here are some interesting facts about why we celebrate Boxing Day here in England.
It is a Skater Dress from Simple Sew. Again!!! See here……Skater Dress

I received the fabric from a friend at work. Her mum was sorting out her fabric stash and donated it all to me! For this dress I chose the 3m of lovely black wool mix fabric (I think!)
I had bought the beautiful trim at The Knitting and Stitching Show from Aarti J.

Here is what I also bought….

(Expect more dresses with trims!!)
It is iron on, but due to putting it on the waist I decided to sew it on too. I set my machine on a very small stitch and it is not noticeable.

I really like this dress. It is very comfortable to wear and feels very glamorous. I am much happier with the length. I added about 10cm to the hem of the skirt.

And here I am with my beautiful sister in her gorgeous house!

Pattern: Simple Sew Skater Dress
Fabric: donated!
Notions: 16inch zip, thread, 5 m of bias binding…..and a shortage!
Wonky Factor: 7/10 due to the lack of bias binding and so an insert of navy amidst black!
