I just could not resist having a try at making a matching bag to wear with my Christmas Party dress 2014, which was my sew along for White Tree Fabrics
At the Knitting and Stitching Show I visited the handbag making stall-Bag Clasps and the lovely lady persuaded me I needed to have a go at making a bag.
I bought the clasp and some glue and got some instructions to make it up.
It really was an easy sew and I am so pleased with the finished result!
It is a clutch bag which will fit my keys, purse, lipstick and phone! Hurray!

Super sophisticated! Well done! I love frame purses, and I have 3 or 4 frames in my stash but I’ve never made one. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks! You need to make them! I was so surprised at how simple it was! I fancy a sew in one next time!

I need to look at the frames inhabe and see if i can use glue, the hand sewing of the frame is whats been putting me off! Although hand sewing is what i need practice on, there is that…

Maybe start with a glue in one, so you can see the procedure!?

What a lovely make! And a perfect way to use up left over fabric. I’ve never had a go at making bags, but I’ve just subscribed to Seamworks and there’s a couple of patterns in there I’m tempted to have a go at. Was it really that simple? Think I might need to go on a course for some tips 🙂

You definitely don’t need any tips for this style. If you go on bag clasps website she sends out the pattern with the frames. Basically it is a french seamed rectangle with seams along bottom corners. Then it is glued into the frame. I was amazed at how fab it looks when so simple!

It does look lovely 🙂 I generally find smaller things harder than bigger ones, but perhaps I just need some practice…
