I have only one Scottish friend…Ammie. So I had to name my plaid dress after her!
This was another fabulous freebie pattern from Simple Sew in the Love Sewing magazine. I bought the fabric in August on a visit to Leeds market. I had seen lots of tartan/plaids in magazines for Autumn and this is my favourite colour blue.

I am starting to think this style of dress is best for my figure after sewing the Howe dress.
This dress was different due to the circle skirt, which I have tried to sew before and got into a terrible pickle when hemming it! However, this time all went well!

Have you noticed the gorgeous belt?

It cost more than the fabric ! However, a great investment as it hides the plaid mismatching around the waist!

It is from a company called Harlequin
You send off a strip of fabric in your waist measurement plus 25cm and then a 15cm square of fabric for the buckle. They do any width belt and I was so excited to see turquoise eyelets! I must get out more!!
The usual blog photographer managed to snap one of my best photos ever….I think it’s because you can’t see my face!

I love this dress and have another cut out and pinned on Janibob the mannequin. It is a good fit and I love twirling and whirling in it!
Fabric: 2metres of polyester viscose £8
Pattern: Simple Sew Ruby dress
Notions: 5 metres of turquoise bias binding, interfacing, 18inch invisible zipper. I used bias on the hem, the neck and sleeves and hiding the bodice/waist join inside.
Wonkiness: it’s going to get a good score as it is a fab dress and only the plaid mismatching at the bodice lets it down! 8/10
