The Laine Bow Trench needed a hat……and so here it is. I found the fabric at Abakhan in Manchester. It is a stretchy type navy and white fabric and the pattern is Simplicity 1736a.
I wanted a pearl brooch and found one at the Handcrafted Card Company
Pattern: Simplicity 1736a
Fabric: 0.5 metres of stretchy fabric (pattern said fleece)j

You look all set for the chilly weather. I love your hat pattern and what a great match the fabric is to your trench. Looking forward to seeing what other hats you will make from this pattern. I used to make my girls hats when they were young. I love the construction process of sewing a hat and the great feeling of achievement upon completion.

Yes me too! That is the second hat I have made. I like how quick they are to sew. Luckily hats are really in now in the UK, when I was younger no one wore them so you stood out like a sore thumb! Now it is just the done thing. I’m pleased as I love hats! I have a couple of ones I have bought too. Like proper 1920s cloche hats! My favourite.

Love your version – looks fab with your trench! And for once I have the pattern. I like yours much better than the drawing, so now might actually make it up. A thought for additional, more casual accessory: miniature bow on hat to match trench? (Too matchey-matchey?) Your pin sure adds drama excitement!

Hehehe, sorry. The pattern says it should be made in a fleece fabric. I saw this stretchy fabric and decided to try it instead of the fleece as I wanted the navy to match the coat and white to match the pearls. I could perhaps buy some navy fleece , like the pattern suggests, to make another one and put a bow on the side or the front of it?

Ah! It’s those hearts you put in that don’t translate in my Reader! To answer your question about liking matchey things – sometimes I do & sometimes I don’t. No fixed rule. Might be as a mood strikes.
Like sewing & matching up a fabric like fleece with what a pattern calls for. Maybe I will & maybe I won’t. Depends on what’s in the stash. And colour. That’s most important for me. Lol! 🙂

Lol, I’ve been busy sewing due to the RTW fast and also getting a bigger waist with not smoking. No clothes to fit me and a shopping ban hasn’t left me any blogging time. Oh, and the hectic summer of cricket didn’t help matters either. And my captaincy at the golf club.
I now realise I am not Superwomen and from now on am taking on less commitments! Yippee! Feel better now I can see that in black and white!
Are you looking at another trench. I’ve made myself the Albion jacket from Collette, just need some pix and then I’ll be blogging away…….!

Hurray! Glad you are back! I have 2 red dresses in the wishlist….actually I have fabric and patterns……Hahahaha……just need time! So was thinking about a co ordinating trench seeing as both have turned out PERFECT! Well, perhaps with not as much wonkiness as usual! Looking forward to seeing your jacket!
