A wedding invite definitely calls for new dresses all round !
I used fabric from Calico Laine
I loved the full skirt on the dress and also the rows of stitching around the bottom. I did 10 altogether. The waist was really tricky and I could not get the point right on the front. As I took the stitching out on one occasion I pulled the fabric however, I managed to hide it by doing 5 rows of stitching around the waist too.
It was a very wet day for a wedding! A great time even so!
How is that for a twirly skirt!?
Pattern: New Look 6094
Fabric:3 metres of gaberchino from Calico Laine
Wonkiness: I really loved wearing this dress especially having all that fabric in the skirt. I got lots of comments on it so perhaps this could be a 9/10….. Possibly it is wonky stitch around the bottom!!?! But no one noticed!

Twirly skirt. Love the twirl factor.

Me too! It has gingham underneath the hem and ten rows of stitching which makes it really heavy too, so it is a great dress to wear…it feels so expensive!

Agree that seeing others’ dresses makes me look again at a pattern I normally would pass by! Such a lovely outfit – did you also make your hair-piece? (Does it classify as a fascinator?) Lovely & classic look for you, with a nice touch of fun when you twirl!

I bought the fascinator first! And decided it needed a very plain dress! Everyone said it was great for dancing in!! Lol๐๐๐

That dress is far more beautiful on you than the pattern drawing! That fabric too is so lovely. Great work!

Thank you so much! Isn’t that often the case! I’ve started looking at the line drawings rather than the photos on the front. They never seem to portray them as well as they could! The fabric was really lovely to sew and wear. The only problem was where I pulled the threads in it right on the front of the waistband. Luckily I managed to hide it with the external stitching! Phew!!!!

That’s why I love seeing everyone else’s makes! Patterns I’d typically pass up can look totally different made up in a good fabric choice and fit!

Hi Amanda. Love this dress on you. Your photos look like you had a ball twirling, even if it was raining.
