Annice saw a dress to wear to the September wedding in Zara we have been invited to…… Sadly it didn’t go up to her size!!
Mmmm, what to do………..? Would you like me to sew you one? And she actually said YES!
Here it is modelled to perfection!
The original dress was from Zara Kids and came with lilac lace. As we could not find any lilac we chose a lilac tana lawn and zip from Calico Laine and some Guipure Lace from White Tree Fabrics
The dress is from Simplicity 1479 version B. I then created a lace top which is joined at the neck to the other dress. I used bias binding on the sleeves of the lilac dress and also on the lace. As the lilac is very thin I added a satin underskirt which was joined at the dropped waist.
The decorative zip was very easy to sew in!
The dress, along with that zip, are lovely.
What a great mum you are!

So pretty with all the extra detail. I hope she has a wonderful time wearing it. My sister and her daughter both have the middle name Anise, one n. It’s spelled like the spice, but we pronounce it Ah-neese.

Really? That is fascinating. Ours is from my great grandmother who was married in Leeds , Uk in 1897..I found her marriage certificate in some of my dad’s papers when I was young and always wanted a little girl to call her it! We pronounce it like Janice or Ann-iss . There are not many I know of! Interesting to know it is on the other side of the world too!

I know! Ha! Up to now she has only wanted an elasticated skirt! She is actually really happy with it. You seem to get away with making quite a few items for your girls! Hope you have settled back into home and don’t have any holiday blues!

I first saw them at the Knitting and Stitching show in Harrogate, but Calico Laine just started selling them. It was very easy…just sew on top and tuck the ends in!!!
