This fabric just had to be for Arabella! It is from Calico Laine
I cut two rectangles and guessed the size using the correct age dress pattern. I double hemmed the top and bottom of the dress.
I filled the spool with shirring elastic by hand and made the tension on my machine slightly higher. I used the hemmed edge for the top line of shirring . I then used the foot edge for the next line. I did 10 in total. I then sewed the side seams, trimmed and finished using zig-zag stitch.
I then made 4 ties…this took as long as the dress to get them the right way out! I then attached and tied them and now can’t wait to see Arabella wearing it!
Pattern: Self Drafted
Notions: shirring elastic
Fabric: 1 metre of strawberry cotton

A lovely summer dress for a little girl. You can’t go past a cute strawberry printed fabric. Hope you are enjoying summer up there in the top half of the world. I am crossing the equator this week for a holiday in the USA. Am so looking forward to fabric shopping. 🙂

Hi Amanda.
Have a lovely well deserved break. Imagine you and I together in the USA buying fabric together. We would have to purchase additional suitcases to carry home our purchases. LOL.

Oh I would so love that! It would be great fun! We certainly wouldn’t need to buy any more fabric for a few years! Haha
