Last year at the Knitting and Stitching Show in Harrogate my lovely Mum bought me some fabric for taking her. It was definitely for the Summer…and here it is made up!
I used a plain shift pattern which I have used soooooooo many times. I have decided I am a really boring sew! New Look 6145.
How is the model pose coming along!?! ha! I got the gorgeous necklace from my lovely sister for Christmas from Fenwicks in York. It goes perfectly with this dress.
Fabric: 1.5metres
Pattern: New Look 6145
Notions: 9inch side zip.
I was really careful with the neck when it was on the mannequin to make sure it was a good fit, however, I think it may be cut a little too high and it may need a slight trim! I also seem to be cutting dresses very short! It could do with at least another inch on it really!
It has rained heavily in the UK since this dress was completed!
I just love that fabric! It definitely takes center stage paired with your simple and classic dress pattern. Love it!

Thank you! Do you know, I saw some slipper style shoes with an embroidered flamingo in Accessorize!!! If they had been red flamingoes they would have been mine! Haha

Love it! I think you need a cropped victoria blazer to go with it – in the same colour stripes as the ladies on your dress 😀

I always love your makes! The fabric is super-cute – great choice from your Mum – and it’s really showcased by the simplicity of this dress.
Great model posing! I’ve found that if I do that looking-down-blog-photo-pose, there’s too much double chin action. So I occasionally do the looking up version of the pose, instead, which is much more flattering for me.

Great model pose! The dress looks really pretty and goes very well with the fabric print. I’m sure the rain will stop soon (hopefully…!) so you can wear your dress all the time!

The fabric is adorable. I may have to try the hidden side zip, the back has such a nice uninterrupted look.

I have become a real fan of it! I use a 9inch zip and start about 2 inches down from the sleeve….although you can choose! Ha! I was going to do a back zip in a dress I am making but it is too small!!…. So I have put in a panel at the back to have fake buttons and I am going to add a side zip! Hahaha ..let’s hope it works!

I think this looks great on you, and I love the shoes! Does it just pull over you head or is there a zip hidden in a side seam?

Thanks! I have put a side zip in. I have a secret obsession with them at the moment. I seem to have a narrow back so by using a side zip I can get my neck right at the back and not gaping. However, I have got it too high on the front this time! I would love to sew something and it is just perfect!! Does that ever happen?? Oh yes….. My lace trench! Perhaps just once a year then!!
