 The IP attorneys are patrolling the universe to protect the Chanel label, name and brand.  I bought authentic Chanel tweed in Baltimore and sewed my jacket the Chanel way, but I don’t want to get in trouble – My Classic French Jacket is a Shanel 😉

I read several daunting tales from those who devoted approximately 100 hours of sewing time to make the Classic French Jacket, but I had to sew my own to understand exactly what that meant.

Here’s the process in a nutshell…

I arrived in Baltimore with my thread-traced muslin in tact. My pattern is Vogue 7975.  Susan Khalje worked her magic by fitting my muslin perfectly. I made the petite adjustments before constructing the muslin at home, but the upper bodice was bulky. In the photo below, my right side has been fitted.

The upper sleeve is slashed down the center yielding a three-piece sleeve…
