The lace is all attached to the cotton now. I did start off by basting the lace on, but it not work very well so in a flash of inspiration I pinned the lace on and then over locked it onto the cotton using a zigzag stitch… Double bonus!
Lace attached and edges neatened.
And then I had to do the back seam just to show you how it is looking!

Thank you! The lace was very inexpensive and quite man made and starchy , so I was not quite sure how it would drape, but as it is a coat and needs to be quite stable, so far it looks like it will work! Oh I hope so!!

Yes, I think you should go for a lace one next. I was just re reading your post about the pockets! My instructions…..it is a Burda pattern …… Are very complicated! The back seam is good tho! Lol

I have been very naughty. I first went to a place in town only to be told that the chap was away until 8th October, so I found another place a few miles away who said “most repairs completed within 7 – 10 days”, at which I decided it was time for an upgrade and just ordered a new machine. It is arriving today, so I will either be sewing up a storm this evening or cursing and swearing at my inability to get on with my new BFF!
